Vietnamese Street Food

Vietnamese Street Food

Duration: 1 Day

Street food is now becoming one of the biggest food trends in the UK.  More and more people are wanting to taste and sample foods from around the world. Street food is a way of life for a lot of countries in their culture of eating. None more so than Vietnam,  so this cookery course will give you a taster into the world of Vietnamese street food and its wonderful simple but flavoursome dishes.  You will learn what makes these dishes sing and an insight into making the most of ingredients.

  • Pho: most recognised of street food dishes. This is a noodle and broth based dish flavoured with vegetables, herbs and chicken or beef. The key for this dish is a great stock base.

  • Goi cuon: these salad rolls are a healthy alternative to fried spring rolls. They can be vegetarian or filled with pork, prawns or chicken. Goi cuon are a wonderful street dish, rich with aromatic fresh herbs and vegetables including ginger, lemongrass and coriander complemented by succulent meat all wrapped in a light wafer thin rice paper. Best served with fish or hoi sin sauce

  • Banh khot: mini bite size coconut pancakes filled with prawn and lettuce and served with a tangy hot dipping sauce. They make a great snack but are a great dinner party canapé talking point.

  • Banh cam: bite sized sweet rice and sesame stuffed fried balls.

 Additional Recipes to be confirmed.

The day begins at 9.30am and we invite you to join us with a welcome tea or coffee in the cookery school’s dining room from 9.00am, where you will have a chance to meet your fellow delegates and chef. Your chef will talk you through the class menu and how the day will run before you are assigned a workspace in our fully equipped kitchen, overlooking the beautiful estate at Braxted Park. The step-by-step tuition is fun and easy to follow and the cookery school team will be available to assist you throughout the day.

At the end of a full day of cooking, everyone’s efforts will be rewarded with a glass of wine and a sit-down meal that has been cooked during the day, where hints and tips can be shared with the group while enjoying the food that you have prepared.

Please note that the dishes listed may vary due to the availability of fresh produce as a result of seasonal changes.

Please note Children over the age of 8 years old are welcome to attend and participate in any of our classes at the full cost of a place but MUST be accompanied by 1 paying adult.
