Valentine’s Day - Decadent Chocolate Fondant with Chocolate Strawberries

Sit down and indulge in a romantic homemade sweet treat with your loved one this Valentine’s Day. This easy-to-follow, melt in the mouth recipe from William Grinsted creates two perfect servings, just pull up two chairs, light a candle and enjoy together.

For the chocolate strawberries, you will need...

  • 4 strawberries

  • 50g milk chocolate

  • 50g white chocolate

For the chocolate Fondant, you will need....

  • 50g dark chocolate

  • 50g butter

  • 50g caster sugar

  • 50g plain flour

  • 1 egg

  • 1 egg yolk

  • Cocoa Powder for dusting


  1. For the chocolate strawberries, melt the milk and white chocolate over two bain maries. Dip the 2 strawberries into the milk chocolate and 2 into the white chocolate and leave to set on baking parchment.

  2. For the chocolate fondant, brush two moulds with melted butter and place in the fridge, repeat 3 times to get a good coating.

  3. Dust the moulds with cocoa powder.

  4. Melt the dark chocolate and butter over a double boiler and leave to cool.

  5. Whisk the eggs, yolks and sugar until fluffy.

  6. Slowly add flour to the mix and whisk gently.

  7. Add the cooled melted chocolate and whisk.

  8. Pour the batter into the moulds and chill for 30 minutes or more.

  9. Once chilled, bake in the oven at 200C for 10 minutes, keep an eye on the fondants and remove from oven when the top is crispy and the sides come away from the moulds slightly.

  10. Serve with the chocolate strawberries and vanilla ice cream.
